April Birchbox

So I received my Birchbox while I was gone on vacation.

This months theme was Gossip girl. I am not a big fan of this show so I did not have high hopes for this box. But I was pleasantly surprised.

I am in love with the perfume sample which is Miss Dior. It smells so good, and I think Mr.Friday would agree with me!! I also really like the mascara, its from Tarte and makes my lashes super long. From all the boxes that I have received I really liked this one. Hope you guys had a wonderful week!

Well this Stinks.... And then it Dosen't Anymore

One of the hardest things to do, I feel, is go back to school (work, the gym etc...) after vacation. I seriously wanted to sleep in as late as possible this morning. The only thing that got me out of bed was the prospect of seeing Mr.Friday this afternoon. After my class, in which we are starting to prepare for finals.... YES!!!!! Mr. Friday met me for lunch and then we hung out and watched the Yankees game for the rest of the afternoon. Now we are enjoying some pizza while we watch Indiana Jones. Ahhh the good life, snuggled up with my honey, munchin on some stuffed crust pizza and watchin a classic movie, life sure is SWEET!!!

We're Back

Unfortunately. And there was no ease back into reality. We hit the ground running when we got back home. We made it back to the house around 3 and had to be at Tai-Kwondo by 4:30 so we were totally pooped by the time the dinner bell rang. I am so tired that I only have the energy for a little post tonight, since I have to be up at 5:30 for my class tomorrow.

To the Future and Beyond....

Today we hit up Epcot. I always have a lot of fun when we go here. It's funny to see Disney's take on the future, and where they thought we would be by now. I don't have any fun pictures for you guys since they all have the kids in them or I am making a totally messed up face or something. But that's okay since I have been there a ton of times and I am sure I will be going back again soon (can you tell I LOVE Disney World?!?). This after noon we switched hotels to be closer to the airport since our flight is at like 9 in the morning or something (most of the time I don't actually know this stuff, I am just along for the ride!). We played in the pool of the new hotel while "Mom" and "Dad" took the rental cars back and then got some dinner. Now I am finishing up some homework before playing a round of Game of Thrones with the head honcho. I hope you guys had a great spring break and that you all did something fun!

Ahhh it's a Rough life....

Today was another pool day.... and it was glorious. I spent part of the morning sleeping in and the rest of the day playing in the pool with the kids and chasing lizards with James. It was a very relaxing day. The only downside to being on vacation right now is the fact that its opening week for Baseball season. Thankfully, the Yankees are playing the Tampa Bay Ray's so their games are on t.v down here. Tomorrow we are going to Epcot and then switching to a different hotel to be closer to the airport for our Friday morning flight. Back to reality... it's too soon.

A little Taste of Heaven

Today I feel as though I got a glimpse of what heaven must look like, to me anyways. I got to see The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter, to some of you me saying that it was like looking at heaven might sound weird but to those who know me know its not that weird at all. I am a Harry Potter Freak! and proud of it!!! I am a wiz at HP trivia, so much so that people don't even want to play me anymore. And today I fulfilled one of my greatest desires, to actually go to Hogwarts. As an avid reader I often find myself transported into new worlds (one of the best things about reading in my opinion) and longing for the chance to step into that world myself. At the Wizarding World of Harry Potter I got to do just that, and it was amazing.

Walking around the corner and coming upon this was simply breathtaking. The buildings look so real and you can even go in some of them like;

and

I bought some sweets from Honeydukes (a chocolate frog and some treacle fudge!) as well as enjoyed a butterbeer!

The best part of this part of Universal Studios was the ride that resided inside Hogwarts Castle. The line to get to the ride wound through parts of the castle and the grounds. You got to step into the greenhouses, the defense against the dark arts classroom, and into dumbledores office, all while waiting to get onto this super awesome ride. Called Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, this ride is part roller coaster and part simulated ride, which takes you along with Harry and Ron on a wild race away from a dragon, spiders, a whomping Willow, across a quidditch pitch, and finally to escape some dementors. It was truly thrilling, so much so that I rode three times (one of the great things about being a nanny is that you get to partake in the child swap which means I got to ride with both parents and Kathryn too!). The other rides include a mini roller coaster (called flight of the hippogriff) and a top notch coaster called Dragon Challenge, which I found fun but not as great as that first ride. Finally after spending most of the morning in this part of the park they had to drag me away to ride other rides. Universal park itself is wonderful and full of great things to do but the BEST thing is the Harry Potter stuff. I cant wait to go back and see what else I find there!

It's a SeaWorld Kind of Day

Today we got up early and went to SeaWorld. It was a lot of fun and the weather was absolutely beautiful! The sun was shinning as my now shinny red nose can confirm, and the sky was blue. We spent most of the morning riding all of the rides and seeing some of the animals. My favorites at SeaWorld have got to be the Beluga Whales. I love the fact that on the outside they are not so good looking, a big bubble on the head would make anyone look bad, but they are so graceful in the water. They have a new ride there called Manta that actually lays you down on your belly and fly you through the air, it was SOOO much fun and we rode it twice. One thing I have noticed while walking around the park is that I always seem to be pulling up the rear so to speak. On a day to day basis I feel as though I walk fast, I am the kind of person who likes to get things done, get in get out and on to the next thing. My mom would tell you that I walk like the fires of hell are on my heels. But with this family, all of which are very tall, I still fall behind. I basically have to run to keep up with them (try doing that while pushing a stroller!).
After spending the morning riding rides we had lunch at an underwater grill that was right near the shark tank. It was so cool to see sharks and other large fish swimming by while I was enjoying my shrimp tempura.

We of course then had to see the shamu show. They have a new baby whale that is so cute and stayed right by his mom throughout the whole show even when she was doing some of the acrobatic stuff, he simply waited patiently for her to finish and then swam right next to her again. It was so cute.
I hope you guys are enjoying your weekend so far. Don't forget to have some fun, its okay to jump into the pool sometimes!

A Spacey Kind of Day

Today we went to the Kennedy Space center! The weather was supposed to be rainy for most of the day but ended up being very beautiful, we only had to deal with one rain shower, which we missed because we were inside so it was perfect. We took a two hour tour of the grounds that included some very in depth videos of behind the scenes space stuff, all very interesting. After the tour we saw an Imax movie about the Hubble satellite.

And enjoyed a walk through the Rocket Garden (I know sounds weird right!). After bumming around for another hour or so we headed back to the hotel. Spent some time in the pool and then got some dinner here at the resort. I enjoyed a shrimp and pineapple quesidilla that was ok but not fantastic. Now Kat and I are watching a movie while I work on some homework (and of course update my blog!). Tomorrow I think we are planning on heading to SeaWorld!
Night Y'all!!

Steph's Tidbits:

  • We enjoyed some astronaut Ice Creme while we were at the space center today, I actually enjoyed the stuff. It has a strange texture and I can't help but wonder how they survive on sweet stuff like that when they are in space. It's good but nothing beats the real thing!
  • I rocked a pair of glittery flats today! I got a lot of compliments!
  • I love seeing the kids and this family having fun together. A lot of times we are so busy back home that we don't get a lot of time to just enjoy being around each other. Today we all got to laugh a lot and it was wonderful!

A Breath of Palm Tree Air!

We finally made it to Florida!

Not to worry readers I did eventually get packed, and hopefully everything I might need is in my suitcase. We left the house around 8:45 this morning for our 12:30 flight out of LaGuardia. I actually hate flying, not that because I am scared but because I get sick which is no fun at all. But the flight was for the most part uneventful and my seat partner was a joy (Kathryn Age 9) we spent most of the flight playing a new game on the Ipad called Temple Run (SOOO much fun!!). After landing we got our rental cars and headed to the resort. The Marriott Grand Vista. The grounds of this hotel are so beautiful! And the view from my room is great;

The pool is literally two steps away basically. We would have jumped right in (I feel I should clarify for some of you because I keep saying WE. I work as a nanny for a family with three kids. This is a working vacation for me, which basically means that I go on vacation with them and help out when I am needed. One of the many perks of my job!) but we were all very hungry so we headed to Outback for a quick bite to eat and then hit the pool! Now I am exhausted and still seem to be fighting the after effects of that stomach bug I had last night. Stay tuned dear readers you all know how much fun and adventure I have when I am on vacation!!

Stephs Tidbits:
  • Having to do homework while on vacation stinks, but its better than no vacation at all I guess
  • It was 86 degrees when we landed. The sun was shinning and the palm trees swaying!!
  • I hate that on a two and 1/2 hour flight all they give you is one TINY bag of mini pretzels, the thing literally had like five pretzels in it. Talk about economic cut backs :(

This is What Procrastination Looks Like...

I am still not packed... We leave in 12 hours and I have not even folded a single thing into my suitcase.

It's just a bunch of Hodge podge thrown on the bed and scattered around my room. And to top things off I am sick tonight. I am not sure how or why but I have been puking for the past hour and have a terrible headache. That = no desire to stand up and pack or do anything other than go to bed for that matter. Which is what I am going to do, go to BED.
